City of Peoria is Launching Utility Assistance Program Lottery
The city of Peoria is accepting applications for the Utility Assistance Program Lottery from Monday, February 19th through Friday, March 8th at 2:00 PM. This program pays overdue gas and electric bills for residents who are at risk of having their power disconnected when shut-offs resume in the spring. The city will make payments directly to Ameren Illinois to pay for any delinquent amount owed plus one current month’s bill up to $5,000 per household.

Pothole repairs begin Thursday, Jan. 25 throughout the City
With warmer temperatures on the way and wintery weather out of the picture, for now, Public Works crews will begin identifying and repairing potholes on arterial streets. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, January 25, and continuing until conditions change, pothole repairs will be the Department’s primary focus.

City of Peoria trash and recycling pick-up is delayed due to winter weather
Due to the wintery conditions, the City of Peoria’s collection and landfill operations will be delayed. GFL will not collect trash or recycling today, Monday, January 22 in the City of Peoria. This will delay pickups for the remainder of the week.

Adams Street, Jefferson Avenue One-Way to Two-Way (OWTW) Conversion Project to begin in March
Beginning in March, weather-dependent, construction will begin on converting Adams Street and Jefferson Avenue from one-way to two-way streets. The OWTW Conversion project will be a two-and-a-half-year, $18.9 million project, ending in the summer of 2026.

Snowstorm and Road Condition Update
The City’s main, arterial streets are in good condition and very drivable. Extra caution on this morning’s commute should still be exercised as some roads are partially snow-covered and slick spots remain a possibility. Drivers should be mindful when approaching intersections on both the main roads and residential streets. Remember to give yourself more stopping distance than usual. Please take it slow and give yourself extra time this morning.
