The Department of Public Works is closely monitoring the Illinois River as forecasted crest levels continue to decrease. As of today, Tuesday, January 30, the expected crest level has fallen from 22.5 feet to 22 feet. The river is projected to crest overnight on Thursday, February 1, and into the morning of Friday, February 2.In light of the decreasing crest levels, the Department of Public Works is cautiously optimistic.
