The Peoria Heights Public Library Board met Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The Peoria Heights Public Library Board meets at 4:30 p.m. in the Local History Room at The Peoria Heights Public Library on the second Tuesday of the month.

Here are the minutes as provided by the Peoria Heights Public Library Board:

PEORIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 9, 2016 

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Peoria Heights Public Library was held in the Local History Room on February 9, 2016. The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by the President.

ROLL CALL: The following members answered the roll call: Anne Lockhart, Bill Bradley, Lisa Reinholtz, Margy Simmons, Tom Horstmann, Nancy Marshall and Jeanette Hillyer. Also present: Shawn Edwards, Director 

MINUTES: The minutes of the regular meeting of January 12, 2016 were approved as printed. 

PUBLIC COMMENTS: No one from the public was present to offer comments. 

BILLS: After examining the bills, Bill Bradley moved, seconded by Tom Horstmann that the bills be approved and paid. ROLL CALL VOTE: Ayes: Anne Lockhart, Bill Bradley, Lisa Reinholtz, Margy Simmons, Tom Horstmann, Nancy Marshall and Jeanette Hillyer. No Nays, motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT: The January, 2016 Treasurer’s Report was submitted and discussed. Anne Lockhart moved, seconded by Nancy Marshall, that the Treasurer’s Reports be approved. ROLL CALL VOTE: Ayes: Anne Lockhart, Bill Bradley, Lisa Reinholtz, Margy Simmons, Tom Horstmann, Nancy Marshall and Jeanette Hillyer. No Nays, motion carried. 

DIRECTOR’S REPORT Director Edwards presented the 2016-2017 Budget Draft. Discussion was held concerning capital outlays – primarily the roof and parking areas. Director Edwards stated there may be changes in staff positions. Technology issues including audio visual equipment and new computers were presented. Discussion was held about the present levy rate. Director Edwards stated that the staff health insurance agent has changed to Matt Schellenberg of Group Benefits Ltd. Director Edwards stated that Sonitrol wants to upgrade the library’s wireless connection to their system from 2G to 3G/4G. Director Edwards will investigate whether this is necessary. Director Edwards stated the new Library cards are being given out. Director Edwards stated the Dirt, Worms and Tomatoes Program will continue this summer. Discussion about constructing new raised beds is underway with Richwoods Township and the Village’s Public Works Department. Director Edwards stated Steve Pauli Builders have fixed the partitions in the men’s restroom. Soap dispensers have been replaced. Director Edwards stated the Sharp copier no longer is operational. The Watts repairman picked it up for recycling. Director Edwards discussed the Basket Raffle drawing will be held February 29, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. There are 40 baskets to date. 

Special Note: Margy Simmons left the meeting at 5:08 p.m. 

REACHING ACROSS ILLINOIS LIBRARY SYSTEMS REPORT RAILS is encouraging libraries to discontinue issuing teacher cards. Peoria Public Library and Pekin Public Library are implementing a “New New” category of items that will have restricted circulation. Only local holds will be filled with these items during the first few months in their collections. 

PRESIDENT’S REPORT President Hillyer reminded the Board about the upcoming Basket Raffle drawing on February 29, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS The next Board of Trustees meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in the Local History Room. 

PUBLIC COMMENTS No one from the public was present to offer comments. 

ADJOURNMENT With no further business to discuss, President Hillyer adjourned the meeting at 5:18 p.m. Anne Lockhart, Secretary
