City of Peoria Board of Local Improvements met July 13.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

A Special Meeting of the Board of Local Improvements convened at 09:03 a.m. on Thursday,

July 13, 2017 at 3505 N. Dries Lane, Public Works Operations Facility, Peoria, Illinois and was

called to order by President Bill Lewis.

Roll Call

Roll call showed the following Board of Local Improvements Members in attendance: President

Bill Lewis, Secretary Donald Leist, Board Member Erle Currie, and Board Member Amy

McLaren - one (1) seat remains vacant by former member Gene Hewitt.

Also in attendance was Administrative Specialist Michelle Bailey.

Minutes

Board Member McLaren moved to approve the Minutes of the Special Meeting of August 26,

2015, as printed; seconded by Secretary Leist.

Approved by unanimous viva voce vote.

 Item No. 1: Consideration of Acceptance of a Majority Petition

Requesting the Following Improvement:

A. Property-line sidewalk along the south side of W. Giles Ln., from N. Patton

Lane to N. Mount Hawley Rd. – 80.2% majority. [District 3]

Board President Lewis explained the majority petition was for the improvements on the South

side of W. Giles Ln., from N. Patton Lane to N. Mount Hawley Road by the installation of

sidewalk. He said the property owners wished to use the Special Assessment process as a

mechanism to pay for the improvements. Basically, he said, it was about 870 feet of sidewalk infill.

He said the property owners had been interested in proceeding with the project for about a

year.

Board Member Currie moved to accept the Petitions for the South side of W. Giles Ln. Sidewalk

Improvement Project (from N. Patton Ln. to N. Mount Hawley Rd.), and to direct the Engineering

Division to proceed with the project; seconded by Secretary Leist.

Approved by unanimous viva voce vote.

Citizens’ Opportunity to Address the Board

No one came forward.

Adjournment

There being no further discussion, Secretary Leist moved to adjourn the meeting;

seconded by Board Member Currie.

Approved by viva voce vote.

The Special Meeting of the Board of Local Improvements adjourned at 09:05 a.m.
