City of Chillicothe Construction Commission met October 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

Present: Mayor White, Mike Tobin, Robb Hulsizer, Dennis Parkins, Jim Benisch, Darrin Gross Office Manager Passage

Also Present: Alderman Sharp

Mayor White called the meeting to order.

Mayor White gave a overview of the process the city took to adopt building codes. He stated that the City has contracted with Maurer Stutz to do our inspections. They have assigned Scot Wolf to the City of Chillicothe to be our inspector.

Mayor White advised each member of their initial term. He stated that a requirement of the commission was that they would have to elect a Chairman and a Secretary. He recommended that Dennis Parkins be Chairman. The consensus of the committee was to elect Dennis Parkins as Chairman. He recommended Jim Benisch as Secretary. Mr. Benisch stated that at this time he did not feel he would have the time to be secretary. A recommendation was made to have Mike Tobin be secretary. The consensus of the committee was to elect Mike Tobin as secretary.

Mayor White explained the duties of the commission. He advised the members that they must complete the OMA training and submit their certificate to the City Clerk. He also advised them that they must file an economic interest statement, which they would have received an email from the county with information pertaining to that statement.

Alderman Sharp explained that he was glad to see the building codes in place and the reason for the adoption of building codes was life safety and financial.

Mayor White encouraged each member to go to the city’s website and review the forms and information regarding building codes and give any recommendations for improvements.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:06 p.m.
