City of Chillicothe Cemetery, Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee met July 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The Cemetery, Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee met on July 16, at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Chairman Jenkins called the meeting to order.

Present: Chairman Jenkins

Alderman Bredeman

Alderman Connor

Also in attendance: Mayor White

Clerk Hurd

Alderman Mike Hughes

Absent: Superintendent Sutherland

Public Comment: None

Riversound Park – Bike Rack:

Superintendent Sutherland reported that he had estimates in the amount of $309.00 for the bike rack and $570.00 for concrete work. Discussion was held. Chairman Jenkins will review the budget to see if there is money allocated. He will report back at next month’s meeting.

Porta Potty - Parks:

Chairman Jenkins opened discussion in regards to a request for a porta potty at Riversound Park. Chairman Jenkins received a cost estimate from Office Manager Passage in the amount of $66.63. per month. Alderman Hughes spoke strongly in favor of placing porta potty at all city parks that do not have facilities. A lengthy discussion was held. It was the consensus to look at the budget and discuss at next month’s meeting.

Sycamore Trail Park:

Chairman Jenkins led discussion. The consensus of the committee was to have funds received from fundraising events paid out to the Non for Profit Committee – Prairie Springs Playground Inc. Mayor White will move forward on a Request for Proposal for the park.

Voucher Program Update:

Alderman Connor reported that the event went well and another one will be scheduled for the fall.

Shademaker Update:

Alderman Connor reported that the Beatification Award Winners were picked. They will be presented at the July 25th Downtown Thursday. Mayor White reported that a tree inventory is being completed in hopes of applying for Tree City status. Mayor White reported that 4 trees will come down at City Park in order to install the new sidewalks that were funded through a grant. Three of the trees will be replaced.

Eagle Landing Update:

No report.
