City of Chillicothe Cemetery, Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee met March 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The Cemetery Parks Committee met via teleconference at 5:00 p.m. in the Council

chambers at City Hall. The meeting was broadcasted to the public via ZOOM.

Members of the Committee present at the meeting in the Council Chambers: Chairman Jenkins,  Alderman Bredeman and Alderman Connor. 

Also present in the Council Chambers: Clerk Hurd, Mayor White, Superintendent of Public Works  Sutherland, Alderman Sharp and ED Director Beadles. 

Public Comment: 

None 

Budget Review: 

Superintendent Sutherland reviewed the budget; He reported that all items were within guidelines. 

Playground Equipment RFP: 

Mayor White informed the committee that he had not yet completed the RFP. He explained he  was having second thoughts on the RFP due to timing for the installation of new equipment.  He explained the equipment could be declared surplus property and then donated to Not For  Profits. He explained the process that was explained to him from the City Attorney. The  committee discussed and the consensus was to contact Local Non For Profit organizations to  see if there is interest in the equipment.  

Playground Equipment: 

Superintendent Sutherland asked the committee for permission to advertise for 2 part-time  employees for seasonal help. The consensus of the committee was to advertise for help then  refer to the Human Resource Committee for further action. 

Purchase Tires: 

Superintendent Sutherland informed the committee that he received an estimate of $829.00  from Beau’s Tires. Discussion was held. It was the consensus of the committee to seek council  approval for the purchase of 4 tires. 

Cemetery Clean-Up Program: 

Superintendent Sutherland informed the committee that clean-up will begin April 12th and the  dates will be posted for public awareness.

OLD BUSINESS 

Update Shademakers: 

Alderman Connor reported there were no items for the agenda. 

Walnut Dog Park: 

Chairman Jenkins led discussion. Discussion was held on the process and if public hearing  needs to be held. Chairman Jenkins and Superintendent Sutherland will meet and look at the  proposed site. Superintendent informed the committee that he has fencing in the budget. 

Update-Eagle Landing Observation Tower: 

Mayor White informed the committee that he and Superintendent Sutherland will meet with  contractor next week about some concrete work. 

Cemetery Project-Veterans Memorial Commission: 

Chairman Jenkins announced the project was in the 2021-22 budget. 

Playground installation: 

Alderman Connor gave an update on fundraising to be held. 

There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 5:25pm.
