As of Feb. 18, there have been 434,969 Illinois residents in their 40s who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to numbers being reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

There have been 6,239,285 residents in their 40s in the state who had been tested, meaning that seven percent of those tested have the coronavirus. Through Feb. 18, there have been 3,013,709 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 32,299 deaths from the coronavirus in Illinois.

Illinois was home to some of the first reported COVID-19 cases in the US. It has suffered numerous waves of the pandemic, which peaked in the fall of 2020. As the Midwestern hub of the US, Illinois businesses suffered greatly, including layoffs at two major airlines based in the state.
