The Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau honored the first baby born during National Agriculture Week at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, according to a March 26 announcement. The celebration took place as part of National Agriculture Week, which ran from March 15 to March 21 under the theme “Together We Grow.”

Matthew Zareko Lewis was born at 11:47 p.m. on March 17, becoming the first baby delivered at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital during this year’s observance.

Lindsay Ryan, manager of the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau, said, “We love showering the first baby born in Agriculture Week with some ag-related gifts. It is a fun way to raise awareness about the role agriculture plays in our world.”

Matthew and his parents, Kaitland Gregory and Taylor Lewis, received a bushel basket filled with clothing, farm books, toys and supplies provided by the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau.

The event highlights efforts by local organizations to connect community celebrations with broader themes such as agriculture’s importance. The annual tradition aims to engage families while promoting awareness of farming’s impact on daily life.
