The City of Peoria announced on March 30 that citywide yard waste collection will resume Monday, April 6, with weekly pickups scheduled through Friday, December 11.

This annual service allows residents to dispose of grass clippings, tree limbs, brush, and leaves by placing them at the curb on their regular collection day. The program is designed to help residents manage seasonal yard maintenance and keep neighborhoods clean.

Residents are required to use approved containers for yard waste. Acceptable options include 40- to 45-gallon cans with two handles and a tight-fitting lid labeled with a “Yard Waste Only” sticker or larger wheeled carts (65- or 95-gallon) also marked with the sticker. Stickers can be obtained at City Hall, Public Works, or any GFL Environmental location. Compostable paper bags may also be used but must not exceed 30 pounds when filled.

For larger items such as tree limbs and brush, these should be bundled using nonmetallic cord like twine. Each bundle should not exceed five feet in length or weigh more than fifty pounds.

More information about the program can be found at Yes, Peoria Picks Up! The city encourages all residents to follow these guidelines for efficient collection.
