The City of Peoria announced on March 11 that citywide yard waste collection will resume on Monday, April 6. The weekly service is scheduled to continue through Friday, December 11.

The program allows residents to place yard waste at the curb on their regular collection day. Accepted materials include grass clippings, tree limbs, brush, and leaves.

Residents are required to use approved containers or bundles for their yard waste. Acceptable containers include 40- to 45-gallon cans with two handles and a tight-fitting lid marked with a “Yard Waste Only” sticker, as well as 65- or 95-gallon wheeled carts with the same sticker. Stickers can be obtained at City Hall, Public Works, or any GFL Environmental location. Compostable paper yard waste bags may also be used but must not exceed 30 pounds when filled.

Tree limbs and brush should be tied together using nonmetallic cord such as twine. Bundles must not be longer than five feet or weigh more than fifty pounds.
