Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district since 2015, recently shared updates on various community and national issues through his social media platform. LaHood, who succeeded Aaron Schock in Congress and holds degrees from Loras College and John Marshall Law School, communicated his insights and gratitude regarding local developments and national incidents.

On January 29, 2025, LaHood posted about his visit to the Rockford Airport. He noted that he received an update on the airport’s plans for new infrastructure projects: “Visited the Rockford Airport today to get an update on their plans to build new control tower and modernize critical radar systems. This construction will provide a much needed upgrade to the safety and efficiency for flights and passengers.”

The following day, January 30, 2025, LaHood expressed his appreciation for local advocacy work: “I am grateful for the tireless work of Deputy Chief Richards, Jessica Cash, and all the staff at Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center in Dixon. It was amazing to tour the facility and learn more about their incredible efforts to support those who have experienced abuse in…”

Later that same day, he addressed a tragic event at Reagan National Airport: “After monitoring the tragic collision last night at Reagan National Airport, my heart breaks. I am praying for the families and the loved ones of the victims. I thank the first responders for running towards danger and their tireless work during the recovery efforts.”
