Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district since 2015, has recently made several statements on social media regarding national security and immigration policies. His comments address various international and domestic issues, reflecting his stance on critical matters affecting the United States.

On February 10, 2025, LaHood expressed concerns about the Chinese application DeepSeek. He stated that “The CCP’s DeepSeek poses greater national security risks than TikTok because the app stores data directly in China.” He emphasized his commitment to preventing U.S. government data from being stored in China and indicated plans to collaborate with colleagues to ban DeepSeek from federal devices.

In another post dated February 11, 2025, LaHood commented on the financial implications of immigration policies in Illinois and Chicago. He highlighted that “Illinois and Chicago have spent hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to support illegal immigrants.” He praised former President Trump’s efforts to address border issues and noted that sanctuary city policies would not be accepted under the current administration.

On February 12, 2025, LaHood remarked on Lebanon’s political landscape following the election of Joseph Aoun as president. He described this development as a positive change for Lebanon’s future, stating “The election of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun is a positive step for the future of Lebanon and the Lebanese people.” LaHood expressed hope that Lebanon could overcome challenges posed by Hezbollah and pursue prosperity under new leadership.
