Darin LaHood, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district, recently shared updates on his activities and advocacy efforts through a series of posts on his social media account.
On August 13, 2025, LaHood highlighted a meeting with a local constituent: “It was great to meet with Elijah from Dunlap and talk about his selection as a delegate for Breakthrough T1D’s 2025 Children’s Congress, where he’ll advocate for those impacted by Type 1 diabetes. The following day, August 14, LaHood addressed the ongoing challenge of affordable housing in his district: “The need for affordable housing affects communities and families in every corner of #IL16. While I was in Rockford, I met with Dickerson & Nieman Realtors to get their insights on the current housing market. LaHood has represented Illinois’ 16th congressional district since replacing Aaron Schock in 2015. In the most recent general election held in 2022, he secured re-election by defeating Elizabeth Haderlein with approximately two-thirds of the vote.
