Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district since 2015, recently shared updates and opinions on social media regarding significant national events and legislation. On April 2, 2025, LaHood mentioned his participation in an event with co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Soccer Caucus in celebration of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. He expressed optimism about the impact of the event, stating, “It was great to be with the co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Soccer Caucus to celebrate the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026! The World Cup will have a lasting impact on the US. We will continue working to make sure this historic sporting event is a huge success for our”.

Later that day, LaHood addressed the opportunities presented by the FIFA World Cup 2026, stressing the importance of logistical planning. He remarked, “The FIFA World Cup 2026 will bring tremendous opportunity to the US and allow us to showcase our country to millions around the world. An event of this size requires detailed coordination between federal, state, and local agencies to ensure success and safety.”

On April 3, 2025, LaHood introduced a piece of legislation aimed at supporting small businesses, a key component of the U.S. economy. In conjunction with colleague RepDelBene, LaHood announced, “Small businesses are the backbone of the US economy. I am proud to reintroduce the Small Business Tax Fairness and Compliance Act with @RepDelBene to level the playing field for beauty salons who rely on tips for a large portion of their income. This commonsense legislation will”
