Darin LaHood, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district, has recently highlighted issues ranging from national energy policy to local conservation efforts and historical commemorations in a series of posts on his social media account.
On August 15, 2025, LaHood addressed the importance of domestic energy production, stating, “American energy independence is critical to U.S. national and economic security. That’s why @HouseGOP codified President Trump’s executive order to unleash American energy and lower costs for hardworking families!”
Later that same day, he marked a significant anniversary in world history by posting, “Today, marks the 80th anniversary of the Allies victory over Japan and the end of World War II. I will always remember the sacrifices and commitment of our Greatest Generation. Their bravery defended freedom and democracy for those around the world.”
On August 18, 2025, LaHood shared details about his visit to a local conservation site: “I enjoyed visiting the Nachusa Grassland Preserve in Franklin Grove to learn more about their research and restoration efforts, including the reintroduction of bison to the area. It was incredible to see the progress thanks to the countless hours staff, volunteers, and local”
LaHood has represented Illinois’ 16th district since succeeding Aaron Schock in Congress in 2015. In the most recent general election held in 2022, he secured reelection by defeating Elizabeth Haderlein with approximately two-thirds of the vote.
