LaHood, a Peoria native and a law graduate from John Marshall Law School, recently shared several updates on his official Twitter account regarding economic, security, and cultural matters.

On May 2, 2025, LaHood recognized the significant contribution of small businesses to economic development and job creation in his district. He shared, “Small businesses play a critical role in economic development and job creation across #IL16.” He also mentioned his meeting with Pat Taphorn, President of Big I Illinois from Pekin, and other members, to discuss the Main Street Tax Certainty Act of 2025.

Reflecting on international matters, on May 3, 2025, LaHood expressed his condolences for a recent attack, stating, “The April 22nd terrorist attack in India was a horrific tragedy against innocent civilians.” He reaffirmed the standing support of the United States with the people of India in their efforts to prevent future tragedies.

Later in the day, LaHood demonstrated his appreciation for the arts in his district. He hosted his 10th annual Congressional Art Competition reception at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. He tweeted, “Every year I am amazed by the tremendous artistic talent of high school students across #IL16.” LaHood congratulated the finalists and expressed gratitude to all participants.

During his time in Congress, LaHood has remained committed to addressing local and international issues pertinent to his constituents, while also celebrating cultural achievements within his district.
