Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’s 16th District, has shared his views and recent legislative activities on social media. LaHood, who has been serving in Congress since 2015, is focused on various national and local issues. Below are his recent remarks on national security, tax legislation, and honoring veterans.

On March 31, 2025, LaHood remarked on the importance of national security following a House Intelligence hearing. He stated, “Last week’s @HouseIntel hearing made it clear, the US must be vigilant of the growing threats posed by our foreign adversaries.” He further commented on the current administration, “After four years of weak leadership, @POTUS is restoring American peace through strength to bolster national security.”

Later on the same day, LaHood expressed his commitment to simplifying tax filing for Americans. He mentioned his legislation, saying, “Congress must make tax filing as simple as possible for the American people.” LaHood thanked his colleagues for supporting the Electronic Filing and Payment Fairness Act, a bill intended to modernize the IRS for the “90% of taxpayers who file their” taxes electronically.

On April 1, 2025, LaHood acknowledged the contributions of veterans during a meeting with those aboard the Greater Peoria Honor Flight. He stated, “Today, I had the privilege of meeting some of our veterans from #IL16 on the Greater Peoria Honor Flight!” LaHood recognized their service and the inspiration it brings, saying, “Their bravery and service to our country continues to inspire all of us.”
