FOIA Request to City of East Peoria Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we at the Peoria Standard have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of East Peoria. This request seeks detailed records concerning businesses registered with the city during the previous week.

Specifically, we are requesting a list that includes the following information for each newly registered business: Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name. Our aim is to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage by accessing public records that are crucial for holding public institutions accountable.

In our capacity as media professionals dedicated to informing the public, we have also requested a fee waiver. We believe this is justified given our role in disseminating important information that enhances transparency within governmental operations.

This request is supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating government actions through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about their mission can be found at [stopsecrecy.org/about](https://stopsecrecy.org/about/).

We look forward to receiving these records promptly and continuing our work in providing valuable insights into local governance for our readers.
