FOIA Request to City of Lewistown Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Peoria Standard have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Lewistown. Our request seeks access to records detailing businesses registered with the city over the past week. Specifically, we are interested in obtaining information in electronic format that includes the following fields: Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name.

This request is part of our broader mission to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency for the public. Access to these records is essential for us as media professionals dedicated to disseminating information and informing our community. We believe this aligns with our role in promoting transparency and accountability within governmental operations.

Additionally, as members of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization assisting media companies and advocacy groups—we leverage Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws to investigate state and federal agencies. This initiative helps us pull back the curtain on government actions and inform the American electorate effectively.

We look forward to receiving the requested information promptly and appreciate any assistance provided by the City of Lewistown in fulfilling this request.
