FOIA Request to City of Wenona Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Peoria Standard have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Wenona. Our request seeks access to records detailing businesses registered with the city over the past week. Specifically, we are requesting information in electronic format that includes the following fields: Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name.
Access to these public records is crucial for us as members of the media. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities by holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public. We believe that our role in disseminating information qualifies us for a fee waiver under media provisions.
Additionally, we are supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Missouri Corporation dedicated to assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating state and federal governmental agencies. Through leveraging Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws, this coalition helps uncover government actions and informs the American electorate.
We await a response from the City of Wenona regarding our request and remain committed to keeping our readers informed about developments in local governmental affairs.
