FOIA Request to Fulton County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.

On January 14, we at the Peoria Standard sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to the Fulton County Clerk. Our request seeks access to records pertaining to the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections.

Specifically, we are seeking a list of candidates running for office in these elections. The requested information includes each candidate’s name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the specific office they are running for.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to such public records is crucial. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We have also requested a fee waiver for this information as we fall under the category of media professionals. This status typically allows us exemption from certain fees associated with FOIA requests.

We await a response from the Fulton County Clerk’s office and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
