FOIA Request Sent to Lewistown City Council Regarding Information on Council Members on October 15, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Lewistown City Council in Illinois on October 15, 2024. The request was made by us at Peoria Standard, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The information requested pertains to all current council members. Specifically, we have asked for a list that includes each member’s name, title, year of appointment, term length (either two or four years), and the date their term expires.

As journalists at Peoria Standard, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

We will continue to keep the public informed as we await a response from the Lewistown City Council.
