A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Stark County Il Clerk & Elections Division on February 5, 2025. The request, made by us at Peoria Standard, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks information about the candidates running in the upcoming spring election.

The specific details requested include the first, middle, and last names of all candidates. Additionally, we asked for information about the office each candidate is running for and its jurisdiction. We also sought details about each candidate’s party affiliation.

In order to facilitate communication with these candidates for further reporting purposes, we also requested their contact information. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us at Peoria Standard. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Stark County Il Clerk & Elections Division regarding this request.
