Kathy Nyilas, a patient registration specialist at Memorial Care on South Sixth Street in Springfield, was recognized as the February Colleague of the Month for the Memorial Health Ambulatory Group, according to a March 10 announcement.

The recognition highlights employees who demonstrate excellence in their roles and reflect the mission, vision, and values of Memorial Health. Honorees are selected for their commitment to quality care and positive impact on patients and colleagues.

Nyilas is known for her attention to detail and dedication to patient care. In one example cited by her nominators, she identified an inaccurate order that would have required a home health patient to repeat a 24-hour collection, preventing unnecessary inconvenience. “Kathy is an amazing asset to Memorial, always working hard, staying observant and providing great patient experiences,” wrote one nominator. “She is kind, always polite and fully present in every patient interaction.”

Colleagues also praised Nyilas’s leadership skills and her ability to foster a welcoming environment. “Kathy is a true leader in her work area and is diligent in making sure every patient has the best experience,” another nominator wrote. “She never misses an opportunity to make someone’s day better with a kind word or a smile.”

The Colleague of the Month program serves as an opportunity for Memorial Health to recognize staff members who go above and beyond in serving patients and supporting organizational goals.
