The City of Peoria announced on Mar. 27 that N. MacArthur Highway will be closed to northbound traffic at W. Hurlburt Street from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 30. The closure is part of the ongoing MacArthur Highway Reconstruction Project, which stretches from MacArthur Bridge to Howett Street.
The city said this temporary closure is necessary for construction activities related to the project. Currently, N. MacArthur Highway operates as a northbound-only route between W. Brotherson Street and W. John H. Gwynn Jr. Avenue.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling in the area and consider using alternative routes during the scheduled closure period.
This roadwork is expected to impact local traffic patterns for several hours but aims to improve transportation infrastructure along a key corridor in Peoria.
