The City of Peoria Department of Public Works announced on Mar. 17 that crews will be monitoring and treating city streets in response to forecasted overnight snowfall, which is expected to bring accumulations of one to two inches along with gusty winds through tomorrow morning.

The announcement is important for residents who may experience minor travel disruptions during the Wednesday morning commute. The department advised drivers to plan for extra travel time, as slick spots could develop due to blowing and drifting snow.

“Residents should anticipate minor travel impacts during Wednesday morning’s commute. Drivers are encouraged to plan for extra travel time, as slick spots may develop due to blowing and drifting snow. Motorists should use extra caution and remain mindful of changing road conditions overnight and into Wednesday morning,” the department said.

According to the statement, road conditions are expected to improve throughout the day on March 18 as snowfall tapers off and both air and road temperatures rise.
