The city of West Peoria Land Use Committee met June 15.
Here are the meeting minutes as provided by West Peoria:
1. Call to Order
Chair Dohm called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
2. Roll Call
Members present were Chair Dohm, Alderperson Barnes and Alderperson Thomas. Also present were City Administrator Carlson, Code Enforcement Officer Wallace and Clerk Silver.
3. Additions to/or Deletions to Agenda
No additions or deletions to the agenda were offered.
4. Approval of Minutes – May 18, 2016
Alderperson Barnes made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 18, 2016, meeting. Alderperson Thomas seconded the motion. Motion carried.
5. Review of Monthly Financial Report
Alderperson Barnes made a motion to receive and file the monthly financial report dated April 30, 2016. Chair Dohm seconded the motion. Motion carried.
6. Public Comment No public comment was offered.
7. Legal Action/Nuisance Properties No legal action was discussed.
8. Reports
a. Zoning Reports b. City Administrator's Report
OPRO continues to work with TIF administrators to include its property in the TIF district. Peoria County will require an erosion permit which is being reviewed by legal and engineering for the parking lot scheduled for construction to serve Rocky Glen.
]Alderperson Barnes noted the number of violations which Code Officer Wallace attributed primarily to grass. Officer Wallace also brought up occurrences with vegetable gardening in front yards which is being considered for next year. The committee also discussed a potential violation with the height of accessory structures and determined that without further input, no action is necessary. Special use permits would be necessary to accommodate structures within the city that might violate any suggested changes.
A basketball hoop has been confiscated in accordance with the ordinance passed by city council.
Ouestions regarding addressing on Southport road were reviewed and Chair Dohm asked to have this added to the next agenda.
City Administrator Carlson commended city staff for efforts to work together so that city services are covered in the absence of Economic Development Coordinator Jarbo. The committee agreed.

10. New Business
Review and recommendation of Resolution 2016-01A Resolution Requesting the Voiding of Outstanding Real Estate Taxes on 2704 Nebraska, West Peoria, Illinois PIN #18-06-126-011
The committee discussed the property and its challenges. The resolution was passed at City Council on June 14, 2016. Potential hazards were reviewed and demolition of the property was discussed.
Review and recommendation on Security/Door Lock System Upgrade for City Hall – Alderperson Barnes made a motion to approve the recommendation of Young Security Systems recommendation and send to city council. Alderperson Thomas seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Alderperson Barnes made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:58 p.m. Alderperson Thomas seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
