Larger jets available soon on American Airlines flights between Peoria, DFW
American Airlines will soon fly larger jets between the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
American Airlines and its regional partners plan to offer twice-daily flights to DFW on CRJ900 jets. The new jet service begins Feb. 16.
CR900 jets have nine first-class seats and 67 coach seats, as well as more leg room.
"We are very pleased to have American Airlines invest in larger aircraft, including jets with first class seating, to one of our top destinations," Gene Olson, director of airports, said. "This is something our business travelers and frequent flyers will very much appreciate, and it comes on the heels of American adding a new nonstop route to Charlotte, North Carolina. Both actions show American is very interested in supporting Central Illinois."
Twice-daily flights from Peoria to Charlotte began two months ago. The Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is the second-largest hub for American Airlines, which means more opportunities for connections to international flights.
"American Airlines is giving our community excellent connectivity -- and now some first-class options as well," Olson said.
Though the flight service on larger jets won't be available until next month, tickets are already available for purchase.
