December 15, 2016

Curriculum Committee

The Brimfield Curriculum Committee held a meeting on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. The following members were present: Ms. Constance Johnson, Mr. John Moon, Mr. Robert Richardson.

The members discussed the Eng 110 course (dual credit) that BHS offers. With the change in teachers, we were not able to have our new teacher teach this course. She provides supplemental instruction. Our students are currently taking this course online. Until our teacher becomes qualified to teach dual credit, we discussed the opportunity of teaching an honors English course with the students being provided the opportunity to take the AP exam to have the opportunity to receive college credit for the course.

The committee approved the Honors English until our teacher becomes certified to teach dual credit.

Mr. Richardson shared with the committee that area districts had a meeting planned with the ICC President to discuss options for providing students further dual credit opportunities.

Members discussed allowing freshmen to take Biology with the recommendation of the teacher and a specific MAP score.

Discussed and approved adding Veterinary Science and dropping Earth Science DIscussed and approved dropping IL History and adding Contemporary World History.

Meeting adjourned 5:48 pm.
