Lewistown FPD responds to 27 fires in 2016

Lewistown Fire Protection District responded to 46 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the West Central Reporter.

The calls in Lewistown included 27 fires - 12 structure fires, five vehicle fires and nine other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $474,000 in fire loss - or about $17,556 per fire.

The department also received 19 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian non-fire death. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
