Bradford Community Unit School District 1 Board met December 19. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Call to Order, Roll Call – President Walker called the December 19, 2017 Regular Meeting to order at 7:05pm with the following members present: Knobloch, Kieser, Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, and Walker. Absent: Barto-Colvin, Murphy, Also in attendance were: Supt. Gripp, John Ballentine.


Approval of Quorum and Agenda – Motion made by TerBush and second by Johnston. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Knobloch, Kieser, Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, Walker. Absent: Barto- Colvin. Motion carries 6-0-1.

Welcome – President Walker welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Recognitions –

      Pam Murphy Retirement – 12 Years of Service

      Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Kazubowski were awarded State Bank of Speer Grants of $450.00 for

         flexible seating, and Mrs. Fraizer was awarded $600.00 for stackable cup materials.

Consent Agenda – A motion was made by Murphy and seconded by Johnston to approve consent agenda items: Minutes of November 21, 2017 Regular Meeting, Financial Report and Revolving/Monthly bills: On a roll call vote of the following members voted "Yes": Kieser, Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, and Walker, Knobloch. Absent Barto-Colvin. Motion carries 6-0-1.

Comments from the Public – None voiced

Correspondence – Thank you cards were received from Linda Bailey, Lisa Brown, Pat Nelson for gift cards, and from the Coutre family for donation of books.

Transportation- None.

Board Committees - Jerry Johnston attended the Henry-Stark Special Ed Committee meeting and reported that the Special Education committee requested there be no new enrollment into Excel at the current time.

Superintendent Report - Mr. Gripp reported the following:

      21st Century Parent Night – November 28th

      Christmas Concert – December 5th

      Freedom House – 4 th Grade – December 5th and 12th

      PTO Bingo – December 8th

      3rd Grade St. Lucia Celebration – December 8th

      Native American Project – 5th Grade – December 13th

      K-2nd Grade to Circa 21 on December 15th

      Mrs. Hoffert – 8th Grade Outsiders Project – December 15th

      FCA Movie Night – December 15th

      Santa Claus Visit – December 19th

      2016 Taxes Payable in 2017 – Area Schools

      Enrollment Counts/Trends – Area Schools

Unfinished Business

Proposed December 2017 Levy

      Supt. Gripp explained all of the levy numbers and answered any questions that board may

         have had. There are a few very minor changes from the proposed levy that Supt, Gripp

         shared last month. Our total amount is still $2,697,000 (slightly up from last year -

         $2,644,000) plus the $54,272 for the final bond payment. The levy documents are due to

         the county clerks by December 26th

.A motion was made by Knobloch seconded by Johnston to approve the adoption of December 2017 Tax Levy. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, and Walker, Knobloch, Kieser. Absent: Barto-Colvin. Motion carries 6-0-1.

New Business

Preschool for All – Request for Proposal Update

      Supt. Gripp reported that he has been working on the new Preschool for All RFP that is

         due in January. Supt. Gripp is hoping that our request will be accepted so we can

         continue to offer a Pre-K program for the foreseeable future. An additional item that

         Supt. Gripp is considering to include in the new RFP is new playground equipment for

         our Pre-K students. Supt. Gripp added this topic to the list of items that the Building and

         Grounds Committee can discuss this spring.

Closed Session

A motion was made by Johnston and seconded by Knobloch to enter into Executive Session at 7:23pm to consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Knobloch, Kieser, Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, and Walker. Absent: Barto-Colvin. Motion carries 6-0-1.

Open Session

A motion was made by Johnston seconded by Knobloch to return to Open Session at 7:44. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, Walker, Knobloch, Kieser. Absent Barto-Colvin. Motion carries 6-0-1.

A motion was made by Johnson seconded by Murphy to Approve the Executive Session Minutes of the Following, Not for Release: September 20, 2016; October 18, 2016; November 15, 2016; December 20, 2016; January 17, 2017; February 21, 2017; March 21, 2017; April 18, 2017; May 16, 2017; June 20, 2017; July 18, 2017. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, Walker, Knobloch, Kieser. Absent: Barto-Colvin. Motion carries 6-0-1.

Adjourn

A motion was made by Knobloch seconded by Kieser to adjourn at 7:45pm. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Knobloch, Kieser, Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, and Walker. Absent: Barto-Colvin. Motion carries 6-0-1.
