Bradford Community Unit School District 1 Board met March 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Call to Order, Roll Call – President Walker called the March 20, 2018 regular Meeting to order at 7:00pm with the following members present: Barto-Colvin, Knobloch, Kieser, Johnston, Ter Bush, and Walker. Absent: Murphy. Also in attendance were: Supt. Gripp, Paul Barry, John Ballentine, Jennifer Williams, Pat Nelson, and Heidi Kazubowski.

Approval of Quorum and Agenda – Motion made by Knobloch and second by TerBush. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Barto-Colvin, Knobloch, Kieser, Johnston, TerBush, Walker. Absent: Murphy. Motion carries 6-0-1.

Welcome – President Walker welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Recognitions

• February Student of the Month Winners – Chelo Perez & Meranda Schaffer.

• March Student of the Month Winners – Chelsea Stotler, Andrew Liggett, Jordan McCauley, Erika Bailey.

• Scholastic Bowl – 3rd Place in Conference Tournament

Consent Agenda – A motion was made by TerBush and seconded by Johnston to approve consent agenda items: Minutes of February 20, 2018 Regular Meeting, Financial Report and Revolving/Monthly bills: On a roll call vote of the following members voted "Yes": Barto- Colvin, Johnston, TerBush, Walker, Knobloch, Kieser. Absent: Muphy. Motion carries 6-0-1.

Comments from the Public – None voiced.

Correspondence – None.

Transportation- Paul Berry reported all is running smoothly.

Superintendent Report – Mr. Gripp updated the board members on the following topics.

• BVEC Speech Contest – February 21st

• PARCC (Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) Update

o Grades 3 – 8, Reading and Math, March 5 – April 20

• ISA (Illinois Science Assessment) Update

o Grades 5 & 8, March 1 – April 30

• Open House – March 8th

• End of the 3rd Quarter – March 9th

• 3rd Quarter Awards Assembly – March 14th

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Approval of 2018-19 School Calendar

• Supt. Gripp shared the two 2018-19 calendar options that were discussed last month. The primary difference between in the two calendars is the timing of spring break.

A motion was made by Knobloch and seconded by Keiser to approve the 2018-2019 calender (option 2). On a roll call vote of the following members voted "Yes": Barto-Colvin, Johnston, TerBush, and Walker, Knobloch, and Kieser. Absent: Murphy. Motion carries 6-0-1.

NEW BUSINESS

Request for Use of Facilities – Bradford Beta Sigma Phi

• Supt. Gripp shared that the Betas have requested to use the school facilities on Saturday, March 24, 2018. The request was granted.

AIMSweb Data Update

• Superintendent Gripp shared some recent AIMSweb data. AIMSweb is a universal screening, progress monitoring, and data management system that supports Response to Intervention (RtI) and tiered instruction. AIMSweb is a web-based assessment program that provides useful information for teachers and administrators. Presently, all students are given the AIMSweb benchmark assessments three times per year. Students that are in our RtI process or have an IEP (special education) are monitored more frequently using AIMSweb. Supt. Gripp further explained the district’s AIMSweb process.

School Safety Update

• Due to recent school safety concerns around the country, Supt. Gripp provided a general overview of our emergency procedures. Student safety at BCUSD #1 always has been and continues to be a top priority. Supt. Gripp also included a “Threat Assessment” document that he borrowed from a different district. This document can easily be tailored to meet our needs and be used to create an effective process.

CLOSED SESSION

A motion was made by Knobloch and seconded by TerBush to enter into Executive Session at 7:15pm to consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Knobloch, Johnston, TerBush, Barto-Colvin, Kieser, and Walker. Absent: Murphy. Motion carries 6-0-1.

OPEN SESSION

A motion was made by Murphy seconded by Johnston to return to Open Session at 8:20pm. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, Walker, Barto- Colvin, Knobloch, Kieser, and Barto-Colvin. Motion carries 7-0-0.

A motion was made by TerBush and seconded by Knobloch to accept with regret the resignation of Mrs. Deb Kelly as the Grade School Secretary. The Bradford Board is extremely thankful for her 20 years of service and would like to wish her well in her retirement. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, Walker, Barto-Colvin, Knobloch, Kieser, and Murphy. Motion carries 7-0-0.

A motion was made by Johnston and seconded by Barto-Colvin to hire Mrs. Tosca Krieder as the Boys Track Coach for the 2017-2018 School Year. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Johnston, TerBush, Walker, Barto-Colvin, Knobloch, Kieser, and Murphy. Motion carries 7-0-0.

ADJOURN

A motion was made by TerBush seconded by Knobloch to adjourn at 8:22pm. On a roll call vote the following members voted "Yes": Knobloch, Barto-Colvin, Johnston, TerBush, Murphy, Kieser, and Walker. Motion carries 7-0.
