Fulton County Economic Development & Tourism Committee met April 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

1. Call to Order

Time: 5:00 pm

2. Roll Call

3. Call for Additions/Deletions To and Approval of the Agenda

Member Hensley to approve the Agenda as presented with a second from Member Kessel. No Discussion. Motion carried by voice vote with all voting ayes

4. Approval of Economic Development/Tourism Minutes – March 7, 2018

Member Hensley moved to approve the Minutes with a second from Member Hamm. No Discussion. Motion carried by voice vote with all voting ayes.

5. Announcements, Communications and Correspondence

Bucher announced that Sherry Augenstein resigned her seat and an appointment to replace her would happen the following month.

6. Public Remarks: – None

7. Claims

a. Discussion/Action: Campground claims

Member Kessel moved to approve the Claims with a second from Member Hensley.

Member Pigg asked if a postage invoice was being address, Duffield stated that it would be. No further discussion was made, the motion to pay the claims passed all ayes.

10. Fulton County Camping and Rec

a. Superintendent Report

Duffield reported that the Easter Egg hunt was a success. Regarding campsites; there were five electric and two non-electric open at that time. Member Hensley asked about the progress on repairs to the Little Sister Overflow; Duffield said that the weather had be a problem for getting out on the boat and inspect for repairs. Member Hensley asked about the progress on the pavilion; Duffield reported the work was on schedule. A report was given that Chris Helle have mapped 80% of the campground.

11. Other

Bucher reported that the superintendent’s residence was inspection had been completed and other than the roof, which had lost some shingles, was in great shape. Member Pigg said Zeppler had given bid, metal or asphalt being about the same price. Member Hensley said that because of tariffs, metal would likely go up 24%. A short discussion on the use of several construction companies was made.

Bucher added that after speaking with representatives from Spoon River Electric regarding the metering of the campground, a meeting was scheduled to look at reducing the number of meters to reduce overall costs. However the new fee structure Spoon River Electric was going to follow; meter charges would increase from $38 to $65 but the first 800kw would be free under the new meter charge scheme. Bucher observed that in the winter, the increased meter charge would cost even more than current pricing.
