State Rep. Ryan Spain (R-Peoria) had a special group of girls to introduce on May 29.
Introducing HR 1144 on behalf of the Dunlap Lady Eagles during the state House floor debate, Spain congratulated the girls' track & field team.
“In the speaker’s gallery, it is an honor for us to be joined by the Girls Track & Field Class 2A State Champions,” Spain said.
Not only did the girls defend their 2017 state championship, they came back stronger this year, Spain said.
“In fact, they dominated this year by such a strong margin that they scored a total of 102 points,” Spain said, adding that the group of girls are the first to score more than 100 points in the track and field system.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are so proud of our young student athletes, and the role models that they are... for all of us,” Spain said.
