New City of Canton Fire and Police Commission met May 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

A regular meeting of the Canton Fire and Police Commission was held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. The meeting was called to order at 1:02 p.m. by Commissioner Mayall.

Public Participation- none

A Motion was made by Commissioner Norton seconded by Commissioner Mayall to accept the Consent Agenda. All Ayes, motion carried.

Training certificates: None

Old Business

Probationary Employees: No report.

Bills: A bill was presented relating to the IL Fire and Police Commissioners’ Association Spring Conference. The amounts were $400.00 for registration and $75.33 for mileage to and from Bloomington, IL, payable to Commissioner Mayall. A Motion was made by Commissioner Norton seconded by Commissioner Gossett to pay the bills.

Testing Cycles: No action necessary at this time. However, Carol brought to the commission some information regarding CPAT testing and certification that is now being done in Peoria through the Peoria Fire Department. This could be helpful to candidates testing for the Canton list in the fall.

New Business : The commission accepted a letter of retirement from Fire Lt. Charles Devlin, with an expected date of June 8, 2018. The commission will consider promotions and hiring a replacement for the department at their next meeting, but they agreed to proceed with preliminary evaluations for the next fire candidate on the list, so they might be prepared to hire at their next meeting.

Having no other business, a Motion was made by Commissioner Norton seconded by

Commissioner Mayall to adjourn the meeting. All Ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at

1:11 p.m.
