Avon Fire Protection District responded to 17 calls in 2017 - 70 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Avon included 16 fires - six structure fires, one vehicle fire and nine other fires.

In all, the department saw $5,000 in fire loss - or about $313 per fire.

The department also received one false call.

The Avon Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $56,166 in 2017.
