Copperas Creek Fire Protection District responded to 33 calls in 2017 - 83.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Copperas Creek included 31 fires - nine structure fires, four vehicle fires and 18 other fires.

In all, the department saw $85,450 in fire loss - or about $2,756 per fire.

The department also received two false calls.

The Copperas Creek Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $156,450 in 2017.
