North Pekin Volunteer Fire Department responded to 44 calls in 2017 - 22.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in North Pekin included 29 fires - 11 structure fires, one vehicle fire and 17 other fires.

In all, the department saw $134,350 in fire loss - or about $4,633 per fire.

The department also received 15 false calls.
