City of Canton Planning and Zoning Commission met June 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

The Meeting of June 11, 2018 was called to order by Ed Patton at 5:30 p.m.

Roll call was taken: 15 members with 10 members attending - Quorum present.

Members Present - Kathy Lock, Maria Orwig, Ed Patton, Alan Dilts, Phil Fleming, Kay Long, Roy Hopper, Harold Jump, Dave Pickel & Harriett Williams

Members not present –Craig West, Angela Hale, Scott Miller, Angie Lingenfelter Eric Duffield.

Others Present – Petitioner(s) Montie Wilcoxen

Chairman Ed Patton called the meeting to order. Ed asked for A Motion to approve the minutes from the meeting of May 14, 2018. A Motion was made by Roy Hopper and seconded by Kathy Lock. Motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.

Montie spoke on his behalf and said he would like to build the garage for more storage space. Dave asked him what was to the South of him and he said his neighbor, Brian Slayback will be 30 feet from the garage. Mr Slayback also signed the petition in favor of the variance.

Montie has another garage that is attached to the house. Dave Pickel asked why he was setting the garage so far back and Montie said that he wanted it to face the same way as the house and enter in off Van Winkle and not Ave G. He has placed a culvert on Ave G.

Phil Fleming made A Motion to approve the Finding of Facts as yes to all and approve the request for the variance with a second from Dave Pickel. A unanimous roll call vote resulted in all Ayes, none opposed.

Motion carried. Maria Orwig made A Motion to adjourn the meeting and Dave Pickel seconded followed by all Ayes.

Meeting adjourned at 5:41 PM
