Fulton County Community Unit School District 3 students suspended 87 times in a single school year

Fulton County Community Unit School District 3 reported 87 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 87 students during the year. That equates to 19.7 percent of the 441 students enrolled.

Of the 78 in-school suspensions, including 46 elementary or middle schoolers and 32 high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 69 incidents. There were seven incidents of tobacco. For 59 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes seven incidents. There were one incidents of violence without physical injury. For four incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
