Midland Community Unit School District 7 students suspended 42 times in a single school year

Midland Community Unit School District 7 reported 42 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 42 students during the year. That equates to 6.1 percent of the 692 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes eight incidents. For eight incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 34 out-of-school suspensions, including 23 elementary or middle schoolers and 11 high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 30 incidents. There were three incidents of violence without physical injury. For 25 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
