Spoon River Valley Community Unit School District 4 students suspended 18 times in a single school year

Spoon River Valley Community Unit School District 4 reported 18 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 18 students during the year. That equates to 5.3 percent of the 338 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes eight incidents. There were two incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For 10 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence that caused physical injury. The category includes eight incidents. For four incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.
