CITY OF DELAVAN: Taking Back Unwanted Prescription Drugs

Medicines

City of Delavan issued the following announcement on Sept. 12.

The Delavan Police Department and the Delavan Drug Task Force encourage all those living in the Delavan area to help prevent the misuse, theft and abuse of prescription drugs. Delavan has a prescription drug box inside the lobby of the city offices at 219 Locust Street. Bring your unwanted prescription drugs for disposal in the box any time during office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Christian Monitor reported earlier in October 2013 that deaths from prescription drugs now outnumber those from heroin and cocaine combined. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. Drugs that remain in home cabinets are highly susceptible to misuse and abuse.

Do your part to help with the cause to prevent the abuse of prescription drugs by bringing those unwanted prescription drugs to the city's prescription drug box.
