City of Canton Joint Planning and Zoning Commission met October 8.

Here is the agenda as provided by the commission:

           *Deliberations will be held at the end of each case after public comment has closed. No public comment is allowed during deliberation.

First Item: Case No. 18-008 – Public Hearing for property located at 63 & 65 South Main St, Canton, Illinois legally described as:

Part of the West half (W1/2) of Lot number Forty-six (46) in Jone’s Second Addition to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois described as follows, to-wit: 

Commencing at a point 34 feet and 11 inches South of the Northwest corner of said Lot 46, thence running South 47 feet, 8 inches, more or less, on the West line of said Lot to the Southwest corner of said Lot, thence running East on the South line of said Lot, 78 feet, thence running North 47 feet 8 inches, more or less, to a point 34 feet 11 inches South of the North line of said Lot, thence West 78 feet to the place of beginning; together with all the right, title and interest of the Grantor, in reversion or otherwise; including all right, title or interest in and to the following described real estate, purporting to have been conveyed by quit claim deed, dated September 19, 1989 to the City corporate of Canton by Instrument number 103699 recorded June 22, 1891, in Volume 170 at Pages 614 and 615 of the Land Records of Fulton County, Illinois for the purpose of an alley or otherwise, to-wit: The East 4 ½ feet of the South 47 feet, 8 inches of the West Half of said Lot 46.

Petitioner, Alessandra Puleo is requesting a variance from the Architectural Guidelines in a B-2 Zoning to allow metal siding as a construction material to repair the South side wall of building located at 63 & 65 South Main Street. The current zoning for the property is B-2.

Second Item: Case No. 18-009 – Public Hearing for property located at 326 West Elm St. Canton, Illinois legally describes as:

Lot 1, Babcock’s Addition

Petitioner(s) Jerry and Deborah Bredeman are asking for a one (1) ft variance on the East side yard and permission to build a detached garage on a lot without a primary structure. The current zoning is R-3.
