City of Mason City Council met Oct. 8.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
Call to order by Mayor Bruce A. Lowe
Council members physically present: Mike Kirby, John Dodson, Jim Miller, Scott Francis, Gerald Mahin, and Dan Mason, 6. Also present were City Clerk Michele Whitehead, City Treasurer Michael R. Griffin, Superintendent of Public Works Wayne Dixon, and Police Officer Todd Simpson.
The Chairman declared a quorum present.
Minutes of the September 10th executive session and the September 24th Regular Scheduled Council Meeting were approved.
The Treasurer’s monthly report was read, approved and ordered filed.
The following bills were reviewed for payment. Will be inserted in minutes book
R18-90 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Millerto approve the minutes of the September 10th, 2018 and the September 24th, 2018 regular meeting.

Ayes: Alderman Mason, Mahin, Francis, Miller, Dodson and Kirby
Nays: None
Absent: None
Chairman declared motion carried.
R18-91 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the Treasurer’s report.

R18-92 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Dodson that the bills and advanced checks be allowed and warrants drawn for payment.

Statements of General Concern by the Council and Citizens
Alderman Francis reported that Bailey Schull has quit her police academy training. The Police Committee and the Chief will have a meeting to discuss filling the vacated position.
The Mayor read a letter from James Harp requesting a 90 day extension on an ordinance violation letter he received. The Mayor and Council would like Mr. Harp to appear in person to discuss the request.
The Mayor also informed the Council that he had received a text from a citizen thanking the Council and Police for their efforts to get the town cleaned up.
The Mayor tasked Superintendent Dixon with ordering magnets with City contact numbers on them to hand out to the citizens.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:12 P.M.
