City of Canton Fire and Police Commission met October 10.

Here is the minutes as provided by the commission:

A regular meeting of the Canton Fire and Police Commission was held on Tuesday, October 10, 2018. The meeting was called to order at 1:08 p.m. by Commissioner Mayall.


Present: Commissioner Chad Mayall   Public Safety Director Dick Fairburn

               Commissioner Greg Gossett

Absent:   Commissioner Samantha Norton

Public Participation- none

A Motion was made by Commissioner Gossett seconded by Commissioner Mayall to accept the Minutes of the September 11, 2018 regular meeting. All Ayes, motion carried.

A Motion was made by Commissioner Gossett seconded by Commissioner Mayall to accept the Budget. All Ayes, motion carried.

Training certificates: No certificates were presented.

Old Business –

Probationary Employees: PS Director Fairburn reported that both are doing very well.

Bills: A Motion was made by Commission Mayall seconded by Commissioner Gossett to pay the following bill:

To Stanard & Associates in the amount of $ 190.00 for written testing materials for the Fire Initial testing cycle. All Ayes, Motion carried.

Testing Cycles: The preference point requests have been received by candidates for the Fire Initial. Commissioner Mayall will review so the final list can be posted.

The PD Sergeant promotional will have eight candidates testing on Saturday, October 27th at 9:00am in the Director’s Room.

New Business : The date for the October meeting was changed to October 10, because Carol will not be available on the regular date of October 9.

Having no other business, a Motion was made by Commissioner Mayall seconded by Commissioner Gossett to adjourn the meeting. All Ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 1:25 p.m.
