Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 Board of Education met April 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A special meeting of the Board of Education was called to order by President Rick Runge at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019, in the Board Room at McElvain School, 593 Ava Road, Murphysboro, Illinois.

Board Members present: Mr. Beavers, Dr. Doerr, Mrs. Jaynes, Mr. Bame, Mr. Runge

Board Members absent: Mrs. Miller, Mr. Green

Administrators Present: Mr. Grode, Mrs. Bush

Administrators Absent: Mr. Keener, Mrs. Ehlers, Mr. Ellermeyer, Mr. Todd, Mrs. Allison

Others present: Steve Carrington, Jamie Eovaldi, Troy Brown

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Bame.

Mr. Bame made the motion and Dr, Doerr gave the second to approve the agenda as presented.

A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Green, Miller

The president declared the motion carried.

There were no comments made by the public or employees.

Under Old Business, Mr. Beavers made the motion and Mrs. Jaynes gave the second to approve the regular minutes from April 16, 2019.

A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Green, Miller

The president declared the motion carried.

Under the Reorganization of the New Board of Education, Mr. Runge made the motion and Mrs. Jaynes gave the second to approve the Canvass of Votes from the April 2, 2019 Consolidated Election as presented, which provides that there were a total of 545 votes for Kevin Beavers and 536 votes for Rick Runge within Murphysboro Township and 516 votes for Troy Brown and 504 votes for Jamie Eovaldi from any remaining congressional townships.

A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Green, Miller

The president declared the motion carried.

Mrs. Hines administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected board members.

Mr. Runge thanked Mr. Bame for his service to Murphysboro CUSD #186 and the guidance that he shared with the board.

The new members were welcomed and took their place at the table.

Mr. Beavers made a motion and Mrs. Jaynes gave the second to appoint Rick Runge to serve as president pro-tem.

A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Green

The president pro-tem declared the motion carried.

Mr. Runge made the motion and Mr. Beavers gave the second to appoint Terri Hines as Secretary pro-tem.

A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Green

The president pro-tem declared the motion carried.

Mr. Runge made the motion and Dr. Doerr gave the second to establish a two year term of office for President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Green

The president pro-tem declared the motion carried.

Under Election of Permanent Officers, Mr. Beavers nominated Rick Runge for office of President to serve for a term of two years. There being no further nominations, Mr. Runge declared nominations closed and announced Rick Runge as being the newly elected President of the Board of Education.

Mr. Runge nominated Kevin Beavers and Dr. Doerr nominated Annette Jaynes for office of Vice-President to serve for a term of two years.

A roll call vote was recorded as follows:

Mr. Brown – Jaynes, Mr. Green – Absent, Mr. Runge - Beavers

Mr. Beavers – Beavers, Mrs. Jaynes - Beavers

Dr. Doerr – Jaynes, Mrs. Eovaldi – Jaynes

Mr. Runge announced there was a three three vote, another roll call vote was recorded as follows:

Mr. Beavers – Beavers, Mrs. Jaynes – Beavers, Mr. Runge - Beavers

Dr. Doerr – Jaynes, Mrs. Eovaldi - Beavers

Mr. Green – Absent, Mr. Brown – Beavers

Mr. Runge declared nominations closed and announced Kevin Beavers as the newly elected Vice President of the Board of Education.

Mr. Runge nominated Terri Hines for office of Secretary to serve for a term of two years with no increase in compensation. There being no further nominations, Mr. Runge declared nominations closed and announced Terri Hines as being the newly elected Secretary of the Board of Education.

Mr. Runge made a recommendation to appoint Jan Bush as Treasurer to serve for a term of two years with no increase in compensation. There being no further discussion, Mr. Runge appointed by unanimous vote Jan Bush as Treasurer for a term of two years with no increase in compensation.

Mr. Runge made the motion and Dr. Doerr gave the second to establish the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the District office as the regular meeting date, time and place for Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186.

A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Green

The president declared the motion carried.

There being no further matters brought forth, Mrs. Jaynes made the motion and Mr. Beavers gave the second to adjourn the meeting at 8:25 p.m.
