City of East Peoria issued the following announcement on June 15.
The area of West Washington Street closed to all traffic due to pavement replacement has been extended. The road will now be closed from the intersection with Main Street to the intersection with Spinder Drive through Friday, June 21. Weather may alter the schedule.
The only motorists allowed beyond the road closed signs are those going to the police and fire station at the Public Safety Building, 201 W. Washington St., as well as police and fire vehicles leaving from and returning to the Public Safety Building. Otherwise, motorists must not drive around the road closed signs.
Motorists must use alternate routes during the road closure. Motorists may be cited if they drive around the road closed signs.
