CITY OF CHILLICOTHE: Police Examination

City of Chillicothe issued the following announcement on Aug. 6.

The Board of Police Commissioners for the City of Chillicothe, Illinois is accepting applications for testing from both certified and non-certified candidates for the purpose of adding to a hiring list.

Applications may be obtained and returned at City Hall 908 N Second St or download at www.chillicothepd.org/employment Please return your application no later than September 18, 2019 in care of Rich Underwood.

Late applications will not be considered. Appointments will be governed by the rules and regulations office board of police commissioners.

Written and physical exams will be be given Saturday September 21, 2019 at 9:00 am at IVC High School 1300 W Sycamore St.

CPD offers a starting wage for a probationary police officer of $24.08 an hour with an increase to $27.11 an hour after 1 year along with excellent benefits which include physical fitness test bonuses, overtime, holiday pay, 10 paid holidays, 64 sick hours per year, 40 personal hours per year, up to 160 hours vacation hours per year. We also offer continual paid training, clothing allowance, excellent health insurance, and a city funded pension.

We also offer the following specialty positions: Investigations, evidence officers, field training officers, range and simunition officers, bicycle patrol, school resource officers, and a K9 unit.

Requirements

Be 21 years of age

High School Diploma

No felony convictions

Be a U.S. Citizen

Have a valid Illinois Driver’s License

Live within 15 miles of Chillicothe within 12 months after probation

Be able to legally carry a firearm
